New for 2021

Last year the Province introduced legislation to enable centralization of the Home Owner Grant Program in 2021.  This means that all Home Owner Grant applications must be submitted directly to the BC Government.

Please note that grant applications can no longer be accepted at the District Office.

Eligible property owners can apply for their grants at www.gov.bc.ca/homeownergrant or by calling toll-free to 1-888-355-2700 to speak directly with an agent.  This change in process does not change the eligibility criteria.

Please be advised that all grant applications must be claimed via the Province by July 2, 2021 to avoid late payment penalties.

Payment Options

Payment of taxes through your financial institution is recommended and preferred.  Please ensure your payment is received by your bank in sufficient time for your bank to make payment of your behalf by the due date.  Choose payee:  "Highlands, Dist (BC) Taxes".

Mail or drop off your payment at the District Office, 1980 Millstream Road, in the locked mail box for contactless payment.  Please do not drop off cash.  Mailed payments must be received before penalty application date to avoid penalty.  Please note that the Canada Post mark will no longer be accepted as the received date.

In person at the District Office, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm.  You are encouraged to pay by cheque or debit.
Credit Cards are not accepted.
There will be special instructions at the front entrance for tax payments to ensure physical distancing and other measures to reduce the potential spread of COVID-19.  Please look for signage.
